What Is Marma Therapy?
Understanding Marma
Marma Therapy is a traditional Ayurvedic practice centred around specific vital points known as Marma points.
These points are described in Ayurveda as important meeting places of structures and functions within the body. During a Marma session, selected points and surrounding areas may be approached through gentle, mindful touch according to the individual's needs.
Rather than treating every person in exactly the same way, the session considers the individual—their current condition, sensitivity, lifestyle and reason for seeking treatment.
The experience is generally calm and deeply restorative, creating an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with the body and support overall wellbeing.

What to Expect
Conversation
We begin with a short discussion about how you are feeling, your lifestyle and what has brought you to the session.
Individual Assessment
Your session is considered according to your individual needs rather than following an identical routine for everyone.
Marma Therapy
Selected Marma points and areas of the body are approached using appropriate traditional techniques and mindful touch.
After Your Session
Where appropriate, simple lifestyle, rest or self-care guidance may be discussed to support you after treatment.
The Experience
A Moment to Slow Down.
Modern life keeps many of us constantly moving—physically, mentally and emotionally.
A Marma session creates a different kind of space: time to become still, experience therapeutic touch and reconnect with the body.
Every session is approached individually, with attention to comfort, sensitivity and your present needs.

Marma Is Part of a Larger Understanding
At The Inner Civilisations, Marma Therapy is not presented as an isolated technique. It sits within the wider Ayurvedic understanding of the individual—where physical wellbeing, daily routine, lifestyle, environment and state of mind are considered interconnected.
For some people, Marma may be experienced as an individual therapy. For others, it may form part of a wider Ayurvedic approach alongside consultation and personalised lifestyle guidance.
